MOVING AROUND PUGLIA
LOGISTICS
AIRPORTS
Puglia has two airports:
BRINDISI - AEROPORTO DEL SALENTO (connected to Eindhoven). This is the closest to the wedding venue. If you need transport to your accommodation, we can pick you up here.
BARI - AEROPORTO INTERNAZIONALE KAROL WOJTYLA (connected to Amsterdam). Bari is about 2 hours from Brindisi. If you land here and need transport to the accommodation, please take a train to Brindisi.
Ferrotramviaria from Bari Airport to Bari Centrale
Trenitalia from Bari Centrale to Brindisi station
Trenitalia bus from Brindisi station to Brindisi Airport
GROUP PICK UP
If needed, we can pick you up from Brindisi Airport on Friday 26th, no later than 16:00. More information will follow based on your RSVP.
GETTING AROUND
Renting a car/carpooling is highly recommended—many of Puglia’s highlights (including the wedding venue) are not reachable by public transport. Trains and buses connect major towns, and schedules can be checked on Trenitalia.it.
ACCOMODATION
For the wedding weekend, we suggest staying in Mesagne for easier logistics. Mesagne is Giulia’s hometown, where most of her family currently lives. We recommend:
In Mesagne
In Mesagne’s countryside - close to the wedding venue
If you will be travelling before or after the wedding weekend, you can easily find beautiful accommodations in every town and major beach areas.
Booking.com and Airbnb.com are widely used.
The end of June is already high season in Puglia. Given the volume of tourism, we recommend booking your flights and accommodation at least 3 months in advance.
EXPLORE
When it comes to where to go and where to eat, Puglia offers unforgettable experiences. Immerse yourself in turquoise water, warm beaches, natural parks, ancient buildings, tasty food and endless summer days.
GOOGLE MAPS LIST
To make your experience easier, we created a Google Maps list with our favourite spots that you can find here.
FOOD
For restaurants, Google and Trustpilot are reliable for reviews.
MUST TRY food before you leave:
Focaccia Barese - typical in the Bari area, where our love began
Panzerotti - fried dough filled with tomato and mozzarella (most common)
Fave e Cicorie - A dish with humble origins, fava bean and wild greens
Orecchiette con cime di rapa - fresh pasta in “small ears” shape and “turnip” tops
Bombette - pork rolls prepared with thin slices of capocollo stuffed with cheese (such as caciocavallo)
Taralli - the most delicious thing on earth (if you ask Giulia)
Fresh dairy - Mozzarella, Stracciatella, Burrata, Scamorza, Ricotta, especially in Andria (Francesco’s hometown)
Riso, patate e cozze - a mussel stew with rice and potatoes
Fish and Seafood - always fresh from the Mediterranean
Pasticciotto leccese - a sweet pastry filled with lemon custard
See you back in the Netherlands - with a few extra kilos :)
